I'm trying to make a game in basic128, can someone tell me how to put this image in memory and retrieve it via READ and DATA?
If someone is interested I can give the graphics for an assembly development

Nice gfx.
I suggest you could use the same dev chain (C + asm) that I use for some of my projects.
I code under linux 100% of the time but it can also be build under cygwin for Windows.
source code is here:

another option is to use pulkomandy's tools that are somewhat similar (but we use a very different version of C, mine is an old K&R variant and his is a modern GCC).

I think the goal here is to remain 100% BASIC.

And the result is ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/programming.c64/permalink/298757914137804/

Very impressive. As this is in Basic, I'd suggest to use the GET and PUT graphics primitive to draw sprites. The backgroud picture can be loaded via the LOADP command in basic and displayed on screen via PUT. You can converty any picture into MAP file for the thomson by using the GrafX2 plugins available >>here<< Since you don't need dithering, I suggest to use the "none_to9.lua" script.

Commentaire: GIF + MAP file. The MAP file for the thomson is only 5Kb, much less than a bunch of DATA lines in a basic file.
